Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have always been overweight/obese I don't remember ever being a "normal size" when I was five years old I am pretty sure I weighed about 100 pounds. I've tried to lose weight and I'd always get but so far and would stop losing, no matter if I adjusted my calories or my work out nothing would get me over the stall! I have thought about bariatric surgery off and on through out the years but didn't want to have it, felt I should be able to do it all on my own, and really didn't trust myself enough to follow through if I had the surgery! After last year of being sick with different things and achey back and joints I finally decided enough is enough! I am so tired of carrying the weight around and hurting that it's time to add the tool of bariatric surgery to my tool box of weight loss stuff and I'm excited!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst things about being overweight is not having energy to do things I want to do, not being able to play with my kids and fully enjoy life with them. Not being able to feel secure in myself, not having the confidence that I should have! Other than that the aches and physical pains and the mental pain as well. I grew up being picked on and teased horribly in school to the point I dropped out when I was 16 so I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. I was even picked on by my own grandfather you should at least not have to deal with that kind of junk when your with your family, family should be a safe and happy place to be. I am so looking forward to having my surgery and reclaiming my life and enjoying my family, my friends and the rest of my life!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Haven't had my surgery yet going through all the pre op requirements!
