Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was constantly fighting to lose weight.I was both an emotional eater and a bored eater. I have tried every diet under the sun only to lose the weight and gain it right back. In 2011 I was diagnosed with breast cancer (2 yrs cancer free so far). As a result of the breast cancer I had to start taking a medication that among other side effects causes one to gain weight - just want I wanted - NOT! My girlfriend had the Roux-en-Y and I talked with her for hours about the surgery and decided to go ahead and have it so that I could regain my health (too many meds) and get the weight off.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The overall sense of feeling bloated, clothes never looking good on me, the way people look at you (like you are diseased or something) and just overall lack of feeling in control.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Only 7 weeks in so I can't really say.
