Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have been heavy all of my life. I have lost weight and put all of it back on and more. I have thought about weight loss surgery for about 3 years. I am now ready to take the next step. I have been doing a weigh loss plan for 5 months (6 required by my insurance) and keeping the weight off, so we are getting down to the end of this chapter. Getting excited and nervous all at the same time for the next chapter. Trying to imagine what my life will be like once I lose the weight.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Being overweight has kept me from getting involved in many of the activities that my kids, and grand-kids like to do. The extra weight has taken it's toll on my knees and back. Fitting in a normal size chair without having to squeeze into it.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Hoping to have WLS in fall.
