Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was a binge/emotional eater. Every night before bed I would have a huge bowl of ice cream. I abhorred exercise in any form. I figured if I could still fit into my size 26 jeans, I was alright.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Mobility was becoming an issue for me. My house has a lot of stairs and I was experiencing joint pain in my knees climbing the stairs. Now, I can almost run up the stairs!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Being able to sit comfortably in an airplane seat was the most amazing experience. And not having to ask the most embarrassing question of the flight attendant, "Can I have a seat belt extension, please." Also, I can now cross my legs.
