Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Feeling out of control. I have tried every diet in the book. I have succeeded just to fail and put that weight back on and more, so it makes you feel like a failure. YoYo dieting just makes me bigger and bigger. I get depressed because I am out of control, feel like a failure, can't do the things I want to do. I am just not health any more. I am a four time cancer survivor so I have the will to live longer and my weight is stopping me from doing that. I also want a good quality of life if I am going to live longer.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

My health....I can't get out of my chair without being out of breath. Being out of breath all the time stops me from doing so many things I want to do, like going in a store without using the riding cart. Hurting all the time. My back, knees, legs, every thing hurts because of all the weight. I can't even get comfortable to sleep because I have to use a Cpap machine to breath at night.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I haven't had my surgery yet.
