Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I feel so much shame and it shows in my self-esteem. I feel like I'm not entitled to a happy life because of my weight. It feels like most of the world is judging me according to my size. Then I look to food for comfort and it just gets worse.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

To me, the worst thing about being overweight is having low self-esteem. I used to be slim and in good shape and I had self-esteem that helped me reach my goals in life. Being overweight makes me feel bad inside and physically as well, my feet hurt, knees, hips and back hurt.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I haven't had WLS yet, I'm getting ready for it soon I hope.
