Since a teen I was always chunky didn't think I was overweight or obese, still don't. I walk around with lots of confidence and love my job and what I do. BUT when I stop by a mirror, I see myself and it always hits me "holy I'm so big!" I'm 5'3 and weight 275. I feel like I have this outer layer that is literally weighing me down.
I work in the beauty industry and you might think its all a...

I tried to lose weight on my own struggling with diet pills, cleaning out my kitchen but still end up buying junk food to replace it. I wasn't always overweight but sometimes my family members who I wont speak of would say things like, "you can afford to miss a few meals, or you can stand to lose a little weight" well that hurt but I let it go and continue to strive but failure set in then low se...

I have been overweight since I was 15 years old. I have been on every diet out there with little success and Always gaining it back. I am the largest person in my family and feel very uncomfortable when I go for family functions. I considered bariatric surgery the end of last year when I was having trouble hooking my seatbelt in my car.

I have not always been obese. I was always a very skinny person all through high school. Even after having my first child, I was a size 7 weighing about 130 lbs. By the time I had my second child, I went down to a size 5 weighing about 120 lbs. I got married after my second child was born and after I had my 3rd child, the weight never left. In fact, it seems as though the Lord punished me and ...

I was constantly fighting to lose weight.I was both an emotional eater and a bored eater. I have tried every diet under the sun only to lose the weight and gain it right back. In 2011 I was diagnosed with breast cancer (2 yrs cancer free so far). As a result of the breast cancer I had to start taking a medication that among other side effects causes one to gain weight - just want I wanted - NOT!

I have always been overweight/obese I don't remember ever being a "normal size" when I was five years old I am pretty sure I weighed about 100 pounds. I've tried to lose weight and I'd always get but so far and would stop losing, no matter if I adjusted my calories or my work out nothing would get me over the stall! I have thought about bariatric surgery off and on through out the years but didn't...

I was never overweight until my senior year in high school (although I thought I was because I wasn't a size 0) but my senior year I decided to get on the depo shot for birth control and it made me gain weight like crazy. I was on it for a year and gained about 75 lbs because of it. I continued to gain weight over the years and after having my daughter in May of 2008, I weighed 240 lbs. That was m...

I've fought with my weight my entire life. Growing up in the deep south fried food is a staple, meals are a social activity, and cleaning your plate was a requirement. When I was about 5 or 6 I remember sitting in the Jenny Craig office nibbling on a dry cake doughnut. My mother took me to Jenny Craig that young. I still can't eat plain baked chicken and it was years before I'd eat green beans aga...

A victim of abuse as a child from someone outside my family, to being severely bullied in middle school, to a failed marriage and a series of downfalls, I went to food for comfort, which became a never ending hurtful relationship with food.

I was always thin. My natural size is between 6 and 8. I don't know how I got here. I once gained weight and got up to a size 18, but I got my head right and lost it in 90 days. I was completely down to a size 6 with just eating healthy and exercise. I'm older now and I don't know what to do. It came back on full affect. I watched as I went from 165 to 200. That wasn't so bad. I was in a ...

I have spent my whole adult life battling my weight and the negative effect it has on my energy levels and how I look at myself. I have always had poor self esteem even before my weight gain started 25 years ago. I have gained the ability to love myself by understanding that I need to be like I am and that those things are what make me proud to be me. There are certain traits that I have been so...

I have been "overweight" since around the age of 7 1/2 to 8 years old. I discovered while meeting with the psychologist for WLS approval, that the traumatic experience of losing my dad at the age of 7 1/2 might have triggered my weight gain process, because before that age I was a skinny active child who wasn't the least bit worried about a weight control problem. But since then it has been an u...

I knew about bariatric surgery long before I realized that I needed and wanted it. Family members have had it, some many years ago, and I never really thought twice about it. (They were so big; who would blame them for taking the "easy" route, right?) I struggled with my weight for many years, but it has only gotten so out of control in the last three or so years. After I had my second baby I ...

From the age of 11 or so, I started gaining weight. Through my teen years, I was still gaining weight. Then at 21, I had my first child...I was pregnant, and eating for 2, so I enjoyed myself, gaining about 65 pounds. After delivery, I lost about 20 pounds, but didn't loose any more than that, as a matter of fact, I gained. By the time my son was 9 months old, I weighted more than I did when I...

I'm an emotional eater...in that, I eat to celebrate, when I'm sad, when I'm mad...etc. Being from the south, we eat at all occasions - that's just what we do.

Before learning about bariatric surgery, I sort of embraced the fact that I was a big girl and would likely be that way for the rest of my life. Although I was a size 18-20, I had a ton of confidence and felt very good about myself.
