Losing weight ... and finding hope

Fond du Lac woman, who once weighed 350 pounds, said the "weight just came" (on) with inactivity after a couple of surgeries and college courses behind a computer.

But Amie Smith, 293 Third St., put her mind to achieving a better life.

She dropped half of her former weight, quit alcohol and tobacco, survived three cancer scares and seven major surgeries during the past nine years.

"My best advice is, the only way to create positive habits is by repeating them over and over until they are habit," Smith said.
