My initial impression of Dr. Schreiber was neither over or underwhelming. He is a physically "slighter" man than I had envisioned and did come across as mostly "business". He seemed impressed by my research and was somewhat amused at the sheet I'd printed out with the "reasons I believe I'm overweight" (one of the questions on the patient profile he'd sent me). His office staff seemed friendly and very knowledgeable. I liked Karen Schmidt, his RN, very much and appreciate the way that they have attempted to round out their bariatric care with support groups, clothing exchanges etc... I also like the fact that both Dr. Schreiber and Dr. Sonpal work on all procedures together. The office itself was a bit "stark" and I didn't like all the artificial lighting. (none of the windows were opened to light) Overall, I feel pretty confident that Dr. Schreiber and his staff know what they are doing and that I should get good care with them.

I agree with others that he is a no-nonsense surgeon. He is VERY good at what he does and I really liked his "version" of the whole procedure,as all surgeons are different.I would highly recommend him to anyone!

I liked Dr. Sonpal, he is very warm, caring, and personable. He instructs you fully about the surgery and draws pictures. My impression hasn't changed. The staff was great and knowledgeable. They were willing to help with paper work which is amazing.Thank you Karen for leading such a great group of people! Future patients should know they will be fully informed about the operating procedures and get great aftercare. Dr. Sonpal and his staff stressed the importance of following through with vitamins, minerals, eating well-balanced meals. The exercise program was emphazied also. The risks of surgery were outlined and the discomfort was stressed(2 days) after surgery.I would recommamend Drs. Sonpal and Schreiber to anyone for their knowledge and expertise.Their surgical competence, bedside manner, and professionalism were great!!! Thank yous go out to the pre-op staff. The anestesiologist, anestitist, nurses, were great. Thank you EVERYONE!!!The hospital staff could wear less pungent perfume; it annoyed me. I got nauseous, and short of breath. These are my own thoughts about my experience.

My first impression of Dr. Sonpal was here is this man who has a great sense of humor and put me at ease quickly and effortlessly. I have worked with Dr.'s most of my life and I could tell he was genuine and cared about his patients. He took the time to answer all of my questions and calm my fears.

Over the past 15 months since my surgery my impression of him as not changed at all. He really does care about us.

Sondra and Karen are GREAT they remember you even if has been awhile and quite a few pounds ago as soon as they see you and give you constant encouragement. I can call at anytime and they answer any questions, they also show they care about us as well.

There is nothing that I have found about Dr. Sonpal or his staff that I did not like. They are the best! I Love them all.

Future patients should know that Dr. Sonpal and his staff are there for you and will help you in everyway they can. They are very caring and you are in good hands.

They follow up with you and really want you to keep you appointments and there have been a few times I could not keep mine ( I live 2 hrs. away ) but I called in and talked to Sondra and she talked to me about everything, how I was feeling, my weight, taking my vitamins the whole 9 yards and set up my appointment for the next time. After coming home from the hospital Karen called me a few times till she seen that I was doing good and adjusting well. They do emphasize you keep your appointments and take your vitamins. Even my husband has been impressed with Dr, Sonpal and his staff.

The whole staff of Dr. Sonpal's is very informative and they have seminars before you have the surgery so you know exactly what is going on, what will happen, the risks. I get newsletters just every month and they have support groups, and meetings monthly. Which I can hardly wait to read to see what is coming up next.

Overall I would rate Dr. Sonpal and his staff EXCELLENT !!!

His surgical competence, bedside manner everything about him is excellent!!

These are only my opinions and views of my experience with them.

Dr. Screiber is a very serious natured man. He made me feel right in my decision to go with him as a surgeon. He assured me that everything would be fine and that morbid obesity is very serious and needs to be addressed seriously. I was impressed with his overall attitude and professionalism.
My impression of him only grew stronger. He saved my life.
His office staff is the best. They were extrememly helpful and patient and I called there many times. Sondra is awesome.
There wasn't anything I didn't like about him. He is a great doctor.
People should know that he takes his job very seriously and will do the best he can for you.
He is very concerned with post-op care. I have visited his office many times since surgery and I live 2 hours away.
He has a very structured aftercare program that he gives you a packet of information on. His staff guides you all the way through post-op care as well.
He gave me information to read on the risks of this type of surgery. He explained each and every one of them to me. He wanted me to be aware that it was a major surgery not to be taken lightly.
I rate Dr. Schreiber as the best...a lifesaver.
Surgical competence is way more important to me than bedside manner, but Dr. Schreiber is great at both. I feel the hospital staff is more responsible for bedside manner.

My first impression of Dr. Schreiber was "why, he's a doctor". You can't get to know someone in an hour. He was very thorough, making me think about what journey I was about to embark on and answered my many questions. Dr. Schreiber told me in no uncertain terms that risks were involved (including death, as in any major surgery), and explained them. He seems to be a very up-front kinda guy and really wants you to understand what you're going to go through. (By the way, Dr. Schreiber does have a personality - contrary to others opinions.)

I feel he knows what he's doing and must be doing it right 'cause he's been at it for a long time.

The office staff has been very supportive and they make you feel comfortable. They try to answer all questions you may have.

I would recommend Dr. Schreiber to anyone considering this surgery.

He made me feel like a human, and not a whale
on two feet. He gave the motivation I needed even though my family was afraid for me to have the surgery. But now that they have seen the results they can't stop with the compliments. I went from 382lbs to 225 in 18 months, and I'm still losing. I feel so much better in a size 18 than I ever did in the tents I wore that was a size 56 !!!
The Staff was very supporting and incouraging, and they even called to check on me after the surgery. My Doctors were Dr. Schreiber and Dr. Sonpal At the Cleveland Center for Bariatric Surgery Located at St. Vincent Charity Hospital. 216-592-2801
They really took a lot of care with me because I was a high risk patient due to the fact that I've had several blood clots in my legs which in turn went into my lungs 3 times. So seeing that I take a blood thinner I was a real risk. But they handled me like I was a piece of fine china. They made me feel really special.

He seemed he had done alot of this before. He was straight to the point about everything. My impression of him was he knew his job. I am having my surgery at St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland. The staff that gave me my P.A.T. test were very, very nice. They took time to talk to me and to make me feel at ease. I really only seen the doctor one time, for my consultation. He has a very good staff, you see Sherry, Karen, Saundra more then you see him. They answer all of your questions you may have, about almost anything. At St. Vincents the program they have from what I heard from some of the other ladies is a lot different then in other hospitals. Here they have a full day of P.A.T. testing. This is PRE-ADMISSION TESTING, they do a thorough health evaluation. After that you talk to the nurse, that will be in the room with you while the surgery is going on.After her you talk more with the diet,& eating person. Here is where you talk about all of the follow up eating and what you need to have after you get home. Very thorough. You also do a quiz on the stuff you should know by now on the surgery, if you get any wrong, those are the ones you go over.I would rate his staff with A+++++++++, but him I guess I will have to find that out for myself. As for surgical competence, bedside matter I have to yet find this out too, I sure hope both are great.

I HAVE SWITCHED FROM BTC IN COLUMBUS TO DR SCHREIBER IN CLEVELAND. I AM GOING THERE BECAUSE IT IS CLOSER AND SINCE I AM NOW SELF-PAYING IT WAS ALSO LESS COSTLY.MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH THOUGHT DR SCHREIBER WAS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE.HE IS ALL BUSINESS BUT WE BOTH FELT VERY COMFORTABLE WITH HIM.THE OFFICE STAFF WAS GREAT.THE AFTERCARE IS MUCH BETTER THAN COLUMBUS. THEY HAVE MONTHLY MEETINGS AS WELL AS SATELLITE MEETINGS IN OTHER AREAS.I HAD DONE A LOT OF HOMEWORK ABOUT THIS SURGERY AND ASKED A LOT OF QUESTIONS...WHICH HE ANSWERED TO MY SATISFACTION.I GET THE IMPRESSION HE IS ONE OF THE TOP BARIATRIC SURGEONS IN THE AREA. HE HAS BEEN DOING BYPASS SURGERY SINCE 1979 AND THE RNY ALMOST SINCE IT'S COINCEPTION.
