Kettering Health Network Bariatric Center
So far, I adore Dr. Bruce. He has a fantastic personality and really seems interested in and cares about each individual patient. That means so much when it seems that some Drs./surgeons seem to have an assembly line mentality with patients.
At first I didn't think he was too friendly . Now he seems to be pretty nice. The office staff are great. The Dayton Bariatric center are very organized in helping your success. I would say surgical competence is better.
I visited Dayton Bariatrics last year in the hopes of having surgery and met with Dr. Siddiqui in the hopes of having surgery. He seemed like a competent surgeon, and he seemed like he was well trained. However, my hopes of having surgery in 2006 were quickly dashed after learning that my insurance company is difficult to deal with and require a 12-month medically supervised diet.rnrnI fell off the wagon during month 9, but really, I stopped my doctor visits because my husband had found a new job with insurance that was more inclined to approve this surgery. My husband's company changed insurance in 2007 but it's still easier than BCBS of IL, and I started the process over again. Dr. Siddiqui is no longer with Dayton Bariatrics so I met with Dr. Bruce. He also gave the informational presentation that I attended last month. rnrnMy first impression on meeting Dr. Bruce is that he seemed very nice and was thorough. I also liked that he had a personality and wasn't all business. He made several jokes upon entering the room, and he put me very much at ease. He also did not appear to have a surgeon's ego, which I ran into with the surgeon who removed my tonsils several years ago. He asked me about my medical and weight loss history and performed a cursory examination. He and Dr. Clarey have been doing these procedures for a long time, and I feel confident that they are very good at what they do.
Dr, Bruce came off has a very nice guy, Heard good things about him. rnSeen the man twice before my surgery. rnOffice was ok.rnI could never recommend him to operate on a Dog. rnHe did the surgery and 2 days later they found out he had left a leak and states when i'm sitting in the hall dying that he must have skipped a stich.......rnrnAfter being in the hospital 14 days, in intensive care on a vent, I saw the man the 2 times for surgery and the day I left.rnrnNothing else from him. I never saw him again in the office, the other doctor took care of me. rnrnThis is, only twice I went back. My pcp is taking care of me.rnrnCan not recommend him for anything.
Dr. Bruce is a GREAT surgeon. I really liked him when I went to my appointments in his office. The day of the surgery, thought I only saw him for 2 minutes in Pre-op, and then he never came to see me in the hospital. That was quite shocking. I did see the hospital intern that preformed the surgery with him. I just wish I would have known that I would have been more prepared.
