Charles Ferguson, MD – Your Bariatrics Physician: Dr. Ferguson served as Program Director of the Surgical Residency Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and specializes in weight-loss surgery, including, breast surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and colorectal surgery with an emphasis on laparoscopic techniques. In addition to being a highly skilled general surgeon, Dr. Ferguson is an experienced Bariatric surgeon, performing gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and LAP BAND® procedures at Emory Clark-Holder Clinic Bariatrics Center in LaGrange, Georgia. A cum laude graduate of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Dr. Ferguson completed his internship and surgical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Mass., and a Fellowship at Broadgreen Hospital University of Liverpool, Liverpool, England. He has also served as an assistant professor of surgery at Emory University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. Certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Ferguson has served on the Board of Governors for the American College of Surgeons and has served in leadership positions in other professional organizations both at a state and national level. He has also received several awards for his work teaching surgical residents. Dr. Ferguson serves on the hospital board for the Diospi Suyana Hospital in Peru where he volunteers his time annually serving as a part of a medical mission team. He has also been to Ecuador as a medical volunteer. Dr. Ferguson is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
