  • About Me

After two years of uncertainty, Ridgeview and I, along with my partner, Edmund Chute, MD, are back in business and busier than ever with surgeries.  We feel fortunate that, as a smaller organization, we are not feeling the backlog of surgeries to such a degree and are able to get our patients scheduled in a timely basis once completion of our Program.  We are excited that we are receiving referrals and new patients from all areas of the Twin Cities and surrounding areas and we welcome any new patients to our Program.

To find out more about our program, or to get set up for a consultation to see if bariatric surgery is right for you, please call us at 952.442.7820, option 1.

    Dr. Jeffrey Baker, Bariatric Surgeon

Jeffrey Baker, MD is an experienced and highly-skilled bariatric surgeon practicing with Ridgeview Medical Center that has offices in Chaska and Fridley, Minnesota. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his residency and internship at Hennepin County Medical School.

Dr. Baker started practicing with his father who was also a bariatric surgeon. Dr. Baker has cared for obese patients with compassion and understanding since 2000. He has performed over 2,600 weight loss surgery procedures and is experienced with Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RNY), Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG), and Adjustable Banding procedures. He also performs revisional bariatric surgeries.

In addition to performing bariatric surgery, Dr. Baker sits on the review boards of two international state-of-the-art medical device companies developing new innovative bariatric technologies. He also is a supporter of the ObesityHelp bariatric community, where he regularly contributes his expertise as a bariatric surgeon through educational articles on bariatric surgery.

Life-Changing Weight Loss Surgery with Dr. Baker

Dr. Baker sees a big interest in bariatric surgery as a treatment for diabetes and hypertension. Up to 90% of his VSG and RNY patients leave the hospital without having to use their pre-op medications. Dr. Jeff refers to this benefit of WLS as the “Miracle of the Operation.”

I tell everyone that I have the best job in the entire world. I have the privilege of working with patients as they move into health and healing. I cannot tell you how rewarding it is to see a patient back in clinic one year after surgery and to hear the stories they tell of what they now can do that they once never thought possible! From riding on a rollercoaster to skydiving to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the list is endless. -- Dr. Jeffrey Baker

Dr. Baker is excited to be part of the profound and significant changes people make in their lives after bariatric surgery, physically and emotionally. From the many successes of Dr. Jeff’s bariatric surgery patients, he sees the importance of a long-term connection with his patients. He is committed to supporting each patient not just up to the surgery, but for years to follow.
