I feel so blessed to have had Dr. Landers and the bariatric team at Overlake Hospital to work with through my weight loss journey. Dr. Landers has an incredible bedside manner and so easy to talk to. He demonstrates his compassion and dedication to the needs of his bariatric patients, making one feel at ease and secure at placing themself in his very capable hands. He will always be my angel who gave me my second chance. The entire staff at the bariatric clinic is awesome in the way they provide top notch services for their patients from all the preliminary testing, education, and information to the way they continue to followup with you after surgery. This team is dedicated to helping you achieve success and I especially appreciate that they are always accessible and ready to help whenever you might need them. I believe I had the best of the best for my WLS and am so thankful for each and every one of them.
The important thing to remember is that this is NOT a magic cure. The staff is always there for support and encouragement but you alone are responsible to do your part to insure your success. If you are not committed to making lifestyle changes and being healthy, then this is not for you. I've been given the gift of a second chance and I have no intention of ever going backwards. God bless you Dr. Landers and the entire bariatric team....you are my heros!
I met my surgeon today 9/4. He seemed to mutter a bit, and he was younger than I anticipated, but I felt comfortable that he was more than competent. The only member of his office staff that I met was his medical assistant Robin. But in an earlier orientation today, I also met the bariatric program case manager Julie Grimm, and the Accomplish Weight Mgmt program director, Wendy McKennon. I liked them all very much. Robin had also had the gastric bypass and looked great.
Aftercare was highly important to Dr. Landers and there is a program with Accomplish Weight Management for 12 months of nutritional counseling.
Dr. Landers did address the risks of the surgery and discussed that if the lap rny did not look like it would work, he could do an other procedure. I would rate Dr. Landers very highly, of course this was my first meeting. Surgical competence is much more important, at least as far as my insides are concerned! He took time to answer all my questions and explained all to me.
