John Balfour Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

First Impression was that he was very busy, but he didn't make me feel like my questions were a waste of his time, he just seems like he deserves a vacation soon! Staff were very friendly. I liked it best that he looked me in the eye the whole time, eye contact is very important to me. He totally emphasizes aftercare... Thats all I know about him so far!

the thing i didnt like about him is he is very stern...like a father figure..."do as i say..n thats final" kinda attitude..dont b frightened of him...he is actually pretty cool

I knew instantly that Dr.Balfour was a nice man.He came into the examining room on crutches having just had surgery on his foot a couple of weeks earlier.He was soft spoken and explained everything about the surgery to me and answered all of my questions clearly and as though he hadn't already answered them hundreds of times before for other patient's.I felt comfortable with him and believe that he is a good surgeon having done this surgery many many times before.Because I had done so much research before my consult and because I know several of Dr.Balfour's gastric bypass patients I already knew his philosophy. He is very strict about diet after surgery and expects you to follow his guidlines which I like.
The office was staff was busy and didn't have much time for chit chat.I felt that they were nice but very business like so I didn't feel quite as comfortable with them as I did with the doctor. I will not see Dr.Balfour again until my surgery because he doesn't do the pre op exam.He has one of the resident doctor's do it.I would prefer it be him but I assume this is how his office does it because he is so busy.
I feel that I will be in good hands with Dr.Balfour as my surgeon.

Dr Balfour is a very caring man.He was very informative and answered all my questions like he had never heard those questions 500 times before.He's very thorough and makes no bones about what he expects from you. You know where you stand with him and he makes you feel very welcome.I trust him and I hope he will be able to start me on the road to my new life.

Dr. Balfour is a very friendly, skilled, and knowledgeable surgeon. His office staff is very friendly and helpful.

Dr. Balfour impressed me as a person who truly cared about my health. The pre-op workup was very through. He is very conscienctious and professional.

My impression has not changed except for the better.

Don't wait to get an appointment. The scheduling takes time.

Aftercare was emphasized. I still visit for followup.

He addresssed the risks of surgery in general and this surgery in particular.

I have great confidence in Dr. Balfour and have had him perform another surgery 1 year following the bypass. I have recommended him to other persons considering surgery.

Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are terrific.

it hasn't he is the nicest and most caring skinny person I have seen in a while.

his offices are clean and neat. his staff is friendly and helpful and will take time when asking them the dumbest questions.

he is very good at his craft and he loves his JOB!

Very important and he makes sure you get everything you need and makes sure you understand everything.

he explains it well and will answer any questions also the pre-op he lets you ask questions to the othe people involved with the surgery.

I think Both is an important factors in well being. because you need confidence in the the person sticking their hands in your belly.
and you want to like them as well it makes you heal better.

I met Dr Balfour on june 4, and you all know that saying "salt of the earth" well that is exactly how I would describe him after my first meeting , we was so nice, patient, and very easy to talk to , no inhibitions about talking to him , he is very honest , and doesn't sugar coat the truth, which is what we all deserve.

Dr. Balfour was very informative and caring. He runs a very busy practice because he is a excellent surgeon. His new nurse Rachel is an asset to the clinic. She took over a stressful clinic situation but has been kind, caring and understanding to her patients needs. She is a new nurse graduate, yet works like an old pro.

He is a wonderful doctor, very busy, very thorough. His staff is very professional and caring. There isn't anything I do not like about him. Anyone considering this surgery should be aware that he is a perfectionist and expects his patients to follow his instructions to the letter. Aftercare is stressed and instructions given and all risks of surgery are addressed. I would rate him as one of the best doctors to do this surgery.

I continue to see Dr. Balfour and have an even higher opinion of him and his staff than ever. He takes the time to listen to me and answers my questions and takes away my anxieties. I think the world of him.
