When i first met Dr Rosenthal, I immediately noticed his kind eyes and felt very comfortable. Everything I had heard about him made me choose him. The Cleveland Clinic in Florida was excellent and the staff was wonderful. Dr Rosenthal came to see me every day and his associates also visited me in the hospital. Everything he told me was exactly as expected and I feel I got excellent care. I am going for my post op appointment next week but after 4 months of visits to Cleveland Clinic and after the easy process they made it in getting my insurance approved by Aetna, i highly recommend them and Dr Rosenthal.

What was your first impression of him/her?
- My first impression of Dr. Rosenthal was very positive. I felt that he was very knowledgeable and that he genuinely cared about each and everyone one of his patients. He wanted to change our lives for the better instead of seeing us as just paychecks.

How did your impression change over time?
- It changed a little bit because of the fact that I probably saw him once or for the most twice after the surgery was performed(and the second time was because he also performed my cholecystectomy which was a complication from the GBP itself...). The other one time I did see him again was because I was experiencing severe discomfort and having difficulty eating solids way out from the initial surgery and I felt that by that time I should have regained at least some sense of normalcy, his reaction was: "That was the point of the surgery, I can go in and stretch the hole where the food goes in a little bit but that might/will induce weight gain, and you don't want that...do you?". Yes, I am paraphrasing but that was basically what he said.

How would you describe his/her office staff?
- Sweet and accomodating, afterwards...not so much...

What did you like least about him/her?
- His dissapearing act. In the blink of an eye he's gone...but he's a busy busy busy man...so I understand.

What should future patients know about him/her?
- Make a list of what you want to say/ask because you don't have much time to get all out there before he's gone...lol.

How much does he/she emphasize aftercare?
- Not much.

Does he/she have a structured aftercare program?
- To be honest...I have no idea.

How did he/she address the risks of surgery?
- He made everything very clear...over...and over...and over...and over again...basically with him, you know what you're getting into.

How would you rate him/her overall?
- I give him a 9.5 out 10.

Which is better, surgical competence, beside manner, or are both great?
- Well I think a great surgeon should have both and while I was knocked out during the procedure so I don't know how his surgical competence might be, his bedside manner was very good. Even though he was quick, he was very warm and sweet and I felt like I was a person to him instead of a piece of meat with organs that he was about to chop off and put back together.

I was referred to the Cleveland Clinic by my PCP. When I went to orientation Dr. Rosenthal presented and was so interesting, clear, thorough and to the point. I knew only he would do for my RNY. The entire staff is amazing. They answer every question that you ask, even post op. The fellows that work with Dr. Rosenthal were so good with me in the hospital, explaining everything I was feeling. I would recommend him to anyone. It was an amazing experience.

Very sweet man. He gave me he impression that his passion is really to help people.
No my impression will remain the same i believe he is he best in the world. Wonderful and loving eager to help. There is nothing to dislike about Dr Rosenthal. That he really does care this is not a career he is doing what he really loves to do which is help people. His staff stresses aftercare the surgery is a tool but the aftercare is where your success is. Yes a very structured aftercare program. They put it all on the table it is what is it is. But working with a experienced Dr is the key to less complications. Out of 10 a 11. Really both are important but i would say surgical competence. You can get bedside manner from nurses friends and family. Dr R has both.

My first impression of Dr. Rosenthal was that he was all business. However, after I had my surgery, he would come and visit me in my hospital room and I got to see another side of him. He is very humorous. His staff are quick to answer questions. My favorite people in his office are: Karol, his office assistant and Mindy, his bariatric coordinator. Mindy was the liasion between myself and the hospital staff that were taking care of me postop. If I needed anything, Mindy was available to help me out. I felt that the nutrionist program was okay but was not all that it could be. I learned a lot on my own and from OH. If it wasn't for OH, I would not have felt as prepared for my surgery. rnOverall, I would rate Dr. Rosenthal himself as a 10. I came out of surgery alive and well and am recovering at a rapid rate.

My first impression of Dr. Rosenthal was.....I need to look no further for my surgeon! I went into Orientation scared out of my mind and walked out thinking this is for me. I only wish I got to see more of him. He has a staff of associates, who are wonderful as well, but it just gives me reassurance to see the surgeon. I only saw him at Orientation, my consultation, briefly before surgery, he popped in the day after surgery but I don't remember if he said anything to me and then I saw him 4 days after surgery when he checked on me because I had a history of night time fevers while in the Hospital. That was it! All of my post-op visits have been with associates. I know he is very busy and he cannot be everywhere but I would have liked him to go over how my surgery went. He did speak with my husband though right after surgery, so what more do I want.....Right? He has an excellent bedside manner and the whole bariatric program is Top Notch at the Cleveland Clinic. I would highly recommend Dr. Rosenthal to anyone considering this procedure.

My first impression of him was that he seemed really nice. He seemed like a normal person who had feelings about diet and exercise like everyone else does. He seemed friendly and he definatly knew what he was talking about. After orientation, I had my first one-on-one with him. I have to admit he almost scared me out of it, but I went home and gave it some great thought and decided I want the surgery. His office staff seems nice. I know a few people that have had wls from him already and have had great results. I would highly recommend him because he lets you know what your getting into and he seems great.

I thought he was a little too nice in the beginning, but it seems like he really cares.

He was wonderful....I feel the whole program at Cleveland Clinic Florida - Weston is wonderful. I found the staff is very knowledgeable and caring. They answered my questions and concerns immediately. My experience with the aftercare program is exceptional as well. The education process both before the surgery and the continued support group care afterwards is top notch. There was nothing I didnt expect...everything risks and all were put out there. I did have complications after my surgery, which can happen with any surgery from any doctor. However, Dr. Rosenthal was exceptional because he recognized after a few hours something was not right and before I became too ill he had me back in surgery doing the repair. Because of the very structured dietary program, I feel I am given every chance to suceed. I am close to goal now and have never been so in control of my eating habits in my life. Dr. Rosenthal and his staff have given me a second chance to LIVE again and I thank my lucky stars I found him. He does not disappear after the surgery, he is always around emphasizing the importance of proper post surg diet and exercise. I feel he cares about his patients and wants them to suceed for a lifetime. I truly believe this.
