  • About Me
Senior Surgical Attending, Northshore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Illinois and Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery, University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. Medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed general surgery residency at Rush Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago. An active member of several surgical societies including the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeon.  In addition, he is on the membership committee of the Chicago Surgical Society, Associate Program Director, U of C general surgery residency and dedicated educator.   I specialize in minimally invasive surgery and have been performing weight loss operations for over ten years, including Lap banding, laparoscopic gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and recently the single anastomosis (loop) duodenal switch. I also have extensive experience in revisional procedures. Currently a board member of the Illinois Association for Bariatric Surgery. In addition, I am Co-Chair of the SAGES Guidelines Committee and was an author on the Guideline for Clinical Application of Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery. I am dedicated to the treatment of obesity and find this portion of my practice the most rewarding. I love helping the patient decide on the best operation for them, based on medical parameters, results, risk tolerance and personal preference and then performing the surgery and getting a great outcome. Bariatric surgery has the most impact of any operation I do, improving health and appearance, increasing energy level and raising self-esteem. It is life changing and life-saving for most patients.
