Dr Poplawki!! He is amazing...saved my life!

It is 7/2/10 and I am a little over 2 weeks out of Gastric Bypass Revision surgery. Everything went great! I am doing really well and I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Poplawski and Barix Clinics in general. Would like anyone to know who is thinking about a complete revision of a previous Gastric Bypass surgery, Dr. Poplawski is the Doc! He is very down to earth, confident and is a master with the scalpel. Would be happy to answer questions if needed.

Prior Info:
It has been a long journey to find Dr. Poplawski. My previous RNY surgery was a failure due to the my pouch not being made small enough. Most doctors don't want other doctor's "problems". However, while doing online and offline research all roads led to Dr "Pop". I am excited and nervous all at the same time since he will essentially have to undue and redo the prior surgery. I am positive it will work out this time. Plus I have learned a great deal during this process and am looking forward to renewing this journey. My surgery date is 6/16/10!! My pre-surgery visits have gone very well and everyone at Barix in Ypsi have been wonderful. I will let you know how the after care is, but I am sure it will be great, too.

The only negative I can say is that I would prefer he read his notes on a patient prior to seeing them. But so long as he knows who and what needs to be done when I have surgery I can let that pass.

Dr. Pop was wonderful! He is very "to the point" yet friendly. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Pop was great I couldn't have asked for a better more knowleadgeable surgeon I highly recommend him he was well worth travelling 11 hrs to get to! The whole Barix Clinic was fantastic!

Dr.Poplawski is a deeply competent surgeon and compassionate human being. He has hugged me through my tears and laughed with me. rnrnThe only downside is that scheduling with him, as he is so popular can be difficult.

I doubt I could say anything about 'Dr. Pop' that others haven't already said.rnWhen I went to the original consult he walked into the room with his hand extended and said \"Hello I'm Steven Poplawski\". My first impression was that he seemed like a real person. At no time did I feel rushed- he answered every question I could possibly think of and actually expanding his answers if he thought I was going to ask more on a subject. He explained in detail the risks involved- and the fact that I was having a revision, he said the risk was 10 fold. rnrnI really can't think of anything negative to say about him or his staff. All are amazing and helpfull.rnrnHe explains how he has structured his post op care- and expects patients to follow up when they are suppose to.rnrnOver all rating- 9.9 out of 10.

I really liked meeting Dr. Poplawski. He was sure to make eye contact with each of us during the seminar. I liked that. I didn't get to spend much time with him for my consultation, but what time I did have with him, I was assured I wanted him to do my surgery. rnEveryone at the Barix Clinic was very nice and kind.rnI have heard from quite a few places that Dr. Poplawski is a very good surgeon and one of the best in Michigan. I am at peace with choosing him to perform my RNY!!

Dr Pop is a compasionate, real, honest and no non-sense kinda fella. He is one of the best and has an excellent track record. He is thorough and made me feel heard. He has structured after care and makes me feel as though he truly cares about me as a patient.rnOverall, I would say that the service he provides is top notch.rnThe only negative feedback I have is the wait times to have scheduling return phone calls (and that's if they do).

My first impression was that he sounded preachy, but that became more in the fact that he wants this to be your last stop on the weight loss journey. As in, he wants you to know why you are over weight so you don't get there again. Surgery is only a tool, you are what has to work it!
I thought the Barix facility was well kept and clean. The staff seemed very nice and more then happy to help.
Dr Pop is not just about getting you the surgery, he is about changing your life. He wants you to know why you eat. Not just the physical situation about being obese but the mental situation about being obese.
I found Dr Pop to be very knowledgeable and confident, and am looking forward to seeing him for my surgery!

He is a great surgeon , knows what he is talking about and doing and makes sure his patients are safe before sending home, i had a fever while still in the hospital and Dr, Poplawski had x-rays and blood test done to make sure there were no leaks and also any fluids in my lungs and he also did this the day after my surgery ,,,so i had a double check so i felt safe BIG TIME,, ,,,and also is very funny,,,,his office staff are awsome very nice to us and what ever you ask there was always a very polite answer to anything ,my favorite nurse was Katie,,,she was right there every time and always had a big smile like i mattered to her,,,i mean the other nurses were nice but Katie was my favorite one,,i even have pictures of her and staff on my face book on my weight loss journey..,,their after care is great also they call to see how your doing when your home .if you have any questions on anything they are there to help you and have,,,,many times...and also DR. Poplawski,,wants to see us for every post op Appoinment...to make sure your loosing weight the right way ,,and tells you when to go back to working out,working lifting ect,,,they care,,,i LOVE DR,POPLAWSKI....he has saved my life and im very greatfull for it also,,,i have no negitive to say about any of of im very happy with their service thank you,,,,,
