    Dr. James Taggart specializes in the surgical treatment of obesity. He strives to provide highly personalized care to his patients, and recognizes that each patient has his or her own unique goals toward weight loss. He is dedicated to helping his patients achieve a healthy lifestyle and takes great pride in seeing his patients enjoying life to its fullest.   Dr. Taggart specializes in laparoscopic and robotic-assisted bariatric surgery. He completed a one year advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery from Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where he also completed his general surgery residency. His experience includes sleeve gastrectomy, traditional and single anastomosis duodenal switch, Lap-Band®, and Roux-en-y gastric bypass.   Dr. Taggart has presented on robotic bariatric surgery at national meetings. He was part of a team that presented one of the first totally robotic modified (or single-anastomosis, SIPS, DS-SA) duodenal switch procedures at the Society of American and Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) meeting in Houston, March 2017. He also has also presented on the use of robotic surgery in revision bariatric surgery at the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO) and SAGES.   Dr. Taggart was born and raised in the Midwest, and enjoys his free time with his wife and her extended family as well as their new daughter, a six-pound cockapoo. He is an outdoor enthusiast and likes camping, backpacking, canoeing, skiing, fishing, and being in and around mountains and the ocean.
