Kumaran Chinnappan Bariatric Surgeon MD, FACS, FRCS (Lon), FASMBS

Dr.Kumaran Chinnappan is American Board certified and Fellowship trained in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery. He is certified as a Center of Excellence Bariatric surgeon. His expertise includes weight loss surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery, Endoscopic procedures and revision weight loss surgical procedures. He has performed over a 1000 such procedures successfully. Dr. Kumaran graduated from the University of Madras, Madras Medical College in Chennai, India, in 1994. After graduation, Dr. Kumaran pursued advanced surgical training in India, UK, Singapore and USA. He also served as a Chief Resident at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, New York, affiliated to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has made many presentations at both national and international surgical meetings. He was awarded the SLS Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Award by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Kumaran Chinnappan is Board certified in Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS). He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, London, UK. He is a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and is a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Dr. Kumaran is married and has two children. His interests include basketball, skiing and tennis.
