Venkatesh Sasthakonar MBBS Director , Division of Bariatric Surgery Department of Surgery Nassau University Medical Center Dr Venkatesh Sasthakonar earned his medical degree from Mysore Medical College, India. He did his surgery residency at North Shore LIJ health system and graduated in 2007. He completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at New York Medical College and joined Nassau University Medical Center as Attending Faculty in 2008. Two years later he took over as Director of Bariatric Surgery and was successful in obtaining a Center of Excellence designation for the program. Dr Sasthakonar is board certified in general surgery and his interests include bariatric surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He performs laparoscopic gastric bypass, lap band, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and other advanced laparoscopic procedures including colon resection, surgery for reflux, achalasia, hernia repairs, removal of spleen, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries.
