  • About Me

Alex Bonnecaze, M.D., is a Pinehurst Medical Clinic endocrinologist and certified diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He is board certified and highly experienced in treating a variety of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, hormone imbalances, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and adrenal insufficiency.

Dr. Bonnecaze became interested in endocrinology and obesity medicine after developing an enthusiasm for exercise and nutrition in high school. Through both his clinical training and personal experience, he developed a passion for helping those struggling with weight and related conditions.

He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Bonnecaze completed his internal medicine residency, as well as two fellowships in endocrinology and metabolism, and obesity medicine, at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

After completing three years of internal medicine training, and an additional two years or endocrinology fellowship, he pursued an additional clinical year dedicated to the management of obesity. During this training, he worked exclusively with both surgical and non-surgical patients with obesity. Dr. Bonnecaze has previously given lectures across the country on obesity medicine and is currently working with the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) on developing future guidelines for management of obesity.
