  • About Us
El Camino Hospital’s Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery Program has been recognized as a leader from its use of technology, to receiving the ANCC award as a Nursing Magnet designation. We are also fully accredited by national and state health care organizations. These organizations regularly review our care and facilities to ensure we meet the standards by which health care quality is measured. El Camino Hospital’s Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery Program has been designated an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. To earn a Center of Excellence designation, El Camino Hospital's bariatric surgery program had to undergo a series of site inspections during which all aspects of the program's surgical processes were closely examined and data on health outcomes were collected. For more information about this designation visit the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) website. Our Customized Approach to Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery Few programs in the country, and certainly none locally, can offer the comprehensive bariatric weight loss surgery excellence that we can. Our people, our program and our facility have made us the choice of thousands of satisfied patients. Accredited Excellence: In addition to our prestigious accreditation from the (ASMBS), we're also recognized by Blue Cross of California as a Center of Excellence--the only hospital in the South Bay to earn this designation. Expert Surgeons: We work with an elite group of board-certified bariatric surgeons, who offer all the latest proven treatment options. Most surgeries can be performed laparoscopically, and many done robotically for fewer complications and faster recovery. Dedicated Nursing: We were the first Bay Area hospital to be recognized for nursing excellence with "Magnet" status--the gold standard in nursing care from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the world's largest and most prestigious credentialing organization. And our bariatric nurses are dedicated to the unit--and to patients, of course! Specialized Rooms: Our new, state-of-the-art hospital features specialized accommodations and equipment in a dedicated bariatric unit to provide safety and comfort. Unparalleled Support: The success of bariatric weight loss surgery depends on significant lifestyle changes, and we provide classes, training and support before, during and after the procedure to help ensure a great outcome. Our Team of Bariatric Surgeons and Nursing Staff Selecting a bariatric surgeon is a critical step in ensuring a successful outcome. Of course you want a doctor who is well qualified and experienced, but you also want someone who is willing to spend the time to carefully evaluate your overall health, personal history and specific needs. We receive many positive testimonials from our patients, and the following testimonial is a good example of words we often hear from our patients about our bariatric surgeons and nursing staff. "I was impressed with everyone's professionalism and organized processes. I felt safe and in good hands with the nursing staff and surgical team." There are many different techniques, and not all bariatric surgeons perform them all. And not all surgeons or techniques are right for every patient. Our team of elite, board-certified bariatric surgeons gives our program great depth thanks to their breadth of experience and techniques. Take the time to research your options, and make sure you're comfortable with the doctor's skills and personal style. You want to be sure to be completely informed about what to expect before, during and after a procedure.
