  • About Me
Evgeniya Larionova, NP, joined the Weight Loss Surgery Center team at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as an outpatient nurse practitioner. Evgeniya plays a key role in the bariatric multidisciplinary team, performing post-operative clinical assessments and participating in the interdisciplinary weight loss surgery screening process. She also provides support and education to bariatric patients and their families. Evgeniya holds a master’s degree in family health nursing as well as a certification from the MGH Institute of Health Professions. She also earned a master’s of arts degree at Bashkir State University in Russia. Prior to joining the bariatric team at BIDMC, Evgeniya worked as a primary registered nurse in the Addictions and Substance Use Disorders Clinic at McLean Hospital in Belmont.  One can easily recognize Evgeniya’s upbeat energy and desire to have a positive impact on patient’s lives. “I really enjoy working in bariatrics to promote a holistic approach to patient care, and I enjoy collaborating in a multidisciplinary team setting to help lead patients to lifelong healthy outcomes,” she says. Her lifelong passion is to change the societal beliefs about the etiology of obesity. “Our society needs to know that obesity is a complex, multifactorial disease with genetic, behavioral, cultural and environmental origins,” Evgeniya explains, “and that there is no room for weight stigmatization.” Although Evgeniya’s free time is limited, she volunteers at the Boston Living Center. “I also try and make time for my favorite hobbies, which are writing poetry, acting in community theater, and learning new languages,” she says. Currently, Evgeniya is fluent in Russian, German and Spanish. Evgeniya enjoys exercise to stay healthy, whether it is a hiking trip to the White Mountains or a casual walk in her neighborhood. She recently started running half-marathons and will be running one in May 2019 to raise awareness for childhood obesity.
