6 Months Since Surgery
Just had my 6 month post op check up and I am doing great. Got my labs back, and aside from my iron being lower than I'd like (but higher than my pre-op bloodwork) my numbers have actually all gone up except calcium, so I'm adding a 4th calcium each day to see how that helps it. I have to thank you all here for preaching following the vitalady regime...if not, I'm sure my labs would have tanked. Since my protein is still low normal, I am adding a second shake every day, on top of trying to eat 75 grams of protein in non shake form.... which will give me 175 grams a day.
I do have a pretty good sized hernia, but I knew it was there, just now now big it is. I go Monday to see Dr. Hill so he can schedule surgery as I'm always in pain by late afternoon and the hernia is the cause.
Some really great things.... I weighed in at 179 lbs there today!!! (my scale at home said 183, but when I go there and went to the bathroom before getting on the scale I was pleasantly shocked. I am 20 lbs away from my doctors goal for me, 30 from my personal goal.
In the past 6 months, I've gone ice skating, sledding, snow shoeing (which was new for me!), hiked 4 mountains, biked 17miles around the local lake and have started to help coach the high school softball team. I've also been mistaken for my younger sister (who's a size 4) and everybody thinks that my daughter and I are sisters instead of mother/daughter.
I have no new pictures to share today, but I promise to get some this weekend since we have lots going on, then I will share some current pics.
Oh, and I am down 64% of my excess body weight....
