What to do for wicked gas?

About every other week, I will get wicked gas.  My left shoulder starts to ache, then becomes painful to use.  Then 2-3 hours later a severe pain hits under the rib cage.  The pain is intermittent, but debilitating.  I can't walk, do anything, or even move.

I do shallow panting because it hurts to bad to take a deep breathe.  I feel like the alien is coming through my rib cage.  I just moan and cry for hours.  It takes roughly 24 hours to get past the pain - but my muscles are still sore and it takes me a week to get over the damage it does to my body.  Not to mention the exhaustion.

This is truly the most nasty pain I have ever felt.  And it's not from eating too many carbs or sugar.  Most of the time it is from the Vitalady vitamin packs.   Strangest things give me gas.

I take Gas-X (I don't think that is doing anything), Tylenol, and now major pain meds.  What do you take for severe gas?

Try taking the zinc out of the vitamin pack and see if it's the culprit. Zinc can give some foks issues. Try not taking it for a couple of  weeks and see if that helps. Then, let's talk about other zincs.

One of the problems I'm having is I can't find a key as to what vits are in each of the four packs.  I don't see a list of pictures of the vits and what they are anywhere on that web site.  So I don't know what the zinc pill looks like.

Is there a key as to what all the pills are?

I would call Vitalady's office and see if they can send you a printed guide or send you one via email.

I also, didn't think about gall bladder as Val suggested. I hope everything will be ok.

Are you sure it's gas? Do you have a gallbladder?

This is definitely something to call the doc about - it's not at all normal.

No, gallbladder was taken out during surgery.  No appendix either.

I had this when I was at the hotel after surgery.  I called the surgeon and told him I felt like I was having contractions from the left side of my ribs.  It was unbearable, and I had doubled up on the pain meds with little affect.

He told me then it was gas, and to take Gas-X.

Early out, especially if your procedure was lap, it's not unusual.  2 months out, however, is not normal.  Keep on it and don't take a shoulder shrug as an answer.

Definitely call the doctor. I remember that if I had shoulder pain, I was to call the doctor. I am over a year out and cant recall the reason why. Keep in touch and let us know how you're doing.

have you developed a hernia and perhaps there are times it is actually being strangulated? I had this happen several years ago. The pain was so intense and debilitating. It would come then after about 24 hours it would finally pass. It was intermittent but one day it came on and didn't go away. I ended up with a strangulated hernia and having to have emergency surgery while on vacation. I would certainly be having my Dr do some testing. its something you don't want to mess with.

Hi

I am 3 years out, but before I go any further let me say my DS saved my life.  I have had 2 heart attacks and I just had a stint put in.  None of this has anything to do with cholesterol its genetic.  I have calcium build up.

Ok, this pain you are talking about is same pain that sent me via life squad to hospital this past Friday.  They found my hemoglobin was 8, ferritin 7 and I didn't't even register with reticulocytes.  I was so anemic my heart was starving for oxygen.  Needless to say I got an emergency large dose iron infusion and I am being set up with finally a bariatric hematologist just up the street from me a the Florida Cancer specialist Center to receive another iron transfusion and possibly a unit of blood.

My albumin due to me being sick and so weak the past 2 months (doctors not listening too me) has dropped to 2, so now I have that problem.  Hopefully hematologist will get me back on track and he said and I quote "I understand, do not worry, we can fix this".

Thank God he sent this man to me.  They had already canceled stress test because cardiologist said if I went into coronary arrest during that procedure with my levels that low, they would probably not be able to bring me back.  How freaking scary is that.

Do pay attention to that pain.  Do not shut up or back down till they address the underlying cause.  I could have died this weekend all due to stupidity of doctors being afraid to admit they did not understand my malabsorption.
