This MN group used to be so incredibly active! There were days when there were upwards of 40 new posts, and all had many replies. It looks like those days are long gone, which is sad.

I had my Roux-N-Y in April of 2007. My top weight was 377 (I'm 5'11"). My lowest weight was 209, I've been hovering around 225 for years now. Never did break through to 'Onederland", but I'm okay with that. I look NORMAL now, people tell me they'd have never guessed I'd had a weight problem! And when I was down in that 210 range, people would tell me I didn't look well. Numbers are just numbers. My size hasn't changed in years, 90% of the meds I used to have to take went away 9+ years ago. I always used to say I'd have the surgery annually if that's what it took to be successful, and I still would ~ but I'm glad I haven't had to! My tool still works when I pay attention to it.

Anyway, any of you 'newbies' on here - congrats! Respect your tool, and it'll do what you ask of it!

Topic: Surgery Went Well
I'm so happy to be on the other side. The removal of my lapband and new VSP went smoothly. Healing, resting, drinking, etc., I can't believe how good I feel, other than soreness, swelling, etc., this could be the honeymoon phase, but so far, so good.

Are there any coffee groups? Would like to make some friends who have had VSG. Thanks. Mary

Hi - I have surgery scheduled for May 15, 2015. I am excited and scared. I'm doing a lot of research and trying to stay focused and letting go. Praying and taking one day at a time. Looking forward to reading more. Mary

Just went to see Dr Fasching this week - OMG, love him! However, SO EXPENSIVE! I'm going to make appts with a few others that were mentioned here, so I can make a comparison. Can't wait until I can get my surgery in October! It will be a LBL and BL.

Topic: Plastic surgeon recommendations?

Hi! Any recommendations for plastic surgeons in the Mpls area? I am primarily looking at a TT, but interested in also pricing a BL.

Also curious about the price range that people paid for TT?

I'm not married so I can't offer advice regarding that, but I'm curious what her reservations are. Is she worried about you? Is it related to having to change lifestyles in the household? Is it something else? You have a few months for her to get used to the idea and hopefully she will, but I think it would be easier to have her on your team. I'd keep moving forward though.

Topic: No spousal support...

Hello, all.

I am going to be having Roux-en Y done in September. (My insurance requires a 6-month wait.)

My spouse is overweight as well, and she doesn't support me having weight loss surgery.

Anyone had this experience, and gone through with the surgery anyways?

My mind is made up, I just need to know how to deal with things on the other end of it.

Thank ya!
