Hi so how is it going for you today...what protein powder are you using...i am using whey gourmet got at the bulk barn in town, very tasty i must say...the only problem i got is i need a bathroom attached everywhere I go...lol..yesterday my calorie intake was 954 which wasn't to bad i guess...
    have a great day
    good luck to you also
You can do it ladies! The first couple of days are the hardest.  By about day 3 your body starts to adjust and you'll find you're not has hungry.

Thanks Tina & Mary, I don't find it too bad. But, slipped a little last night.
I had a spread put out for some company and I sneaked 3 meatballs and
6 shrimp. Bad, bad, I know, but I told myself that I wasn't really accually
started. My calorie intake for yesterday was only at 730. So, the snacks
weren't hurting too much. I am doing better today. I don't know if it's wrong
to do it this way, but I find it easier to right the journal page for the day
and then go by that, rather than eat and then write it. To Newfie...I have the
Tetra shakes from Costco (pre-mixed) 18 in a case for $30. Rhoda suggested
them because 1 shake has 30g of protein, so, 2 gives you the minimum
amount you need in a day. Plus, I like them. I am afraid of the powders..LOL
So, I have one in the morning and one at supper. a soup for lunch and then
yogurts and puddings etc. for snacks.

hi guys fellow newfie here living in ont and having the surgery on the 17th, i'm curious,, you guys are not taking optifast? just regular protein shakes?
what is optifast...just using high protein shakes here

Terrie what is the sugar content of the tetra shakes? I'm wondering if they have a diabetic version?

If those are the same ones they talked about at my orientation I think there is very little sugar in them or none at all. I think she said 120 calories for 30 g of protein so that means 0 carbs.
optifast is prescribed by your surgeon and it is used 2-3 weeks before you surgery, it is a protein shake, you have 4 per day.. and only allowed broth, sugar free jellos,, black coffee.. no solid food,, i believe at one time it was used solely for weightloss but is now used for weighloss before surgery, it helps take the fat of the liver before surgery or so i'm told, i will tell you, six days on the opit and i am down seven pounds, i never feel hungry, its amazing,, hoping to be a total of 10 before my surgery next week, thats 10 less i have to lose afterwards, if you go on the ontario forum you will see all hospitals in ont use this, i know every surgeon is different, and some allow you to eat celery, but this is what i am on and now my panties are getting to big..lol.. good luck to all that is having the surgery, i can't wait for next tuesday, the start of new things, and i'm coming home to nfld in july .. miss it so much..
