Hi everyone, I'm currently living in Vancouver BC. But I'm planning  a move back home to NS. in a couple of months..
I was just wondering how things work with weight loss surgery there?
Does the patient have to self pay, or does NS health care help with all or any of the cost?
Any information you have would be a huge help to me..
Thank you for your kindness.
 Kind Regards
Kelly

WLS is covered by MSI.  You can be in receipt of MSI when you move here, but I think there is a 3 months wait after relocating.  During that lapse, whatever coverage you came with should cover you.
Information for applying for MSI can be found here:  http://www.gov.ns.ca/health/msi/
There is no cost to the patient for the surgery.

The only surgery performed here is the VSG (Sleeve).  The wait list depends on your comorbities, and varies from 2 years and up minimum.  Some a lot longer than others.  You will need to be referred to the Clinic by a physician.

Here's the link to the Obesity Network at the QE2 Hospital.  http://www.cdha.nshealth.ca/default.aspx?page=SubPage¢erContent.Id.0=73341&category.Categories.1=112

There are lots of links on the Clinic's site I sent you, with frequently asked questions and general information.
