I called the dietician and asked if there was something special she wants to follow pre-op.  She suggested just trying to eat healthier and don't worry about shakes at this time.  Anyone have any suggestions for me.  My surgery is August 22nd.

Hi Nancy,

Most people don't have to worry about Opti or other diets until about 3 weeks before surgery.  I'm not sure what you're doing now but you can try these:
1.  Ensure you are getting 2L water in per day (crystal light counts, decaf coffee/tea doesn't)
2.  Switch to decalf coffee/tea if you drink them
3.  Cut out pop.
4.  Start planning meals.
5.  Try to eat slowly
6.  If you eat yogurt, try to switch to greek.
7.  Start logging your food if you haven't already.

Just do one thing at a time, and work your way up to what you want to do.

That is perfect thanks so much.  I already started some of those things.  The tracking is a great suggestion.

I will start Opti on Aug 6th.

You could always start lowering your carb as well and getting a little walk in when you can.  Good for you for being so proactive!
