Hi guys how long after surgery were you able to swallow pills whole? I would like to take my multivitamins whole along with zinc, biotin, but can't crush or get chewables. Thanks

I'm 7 weeks post op and I bought a pill splitter and split the huge multi vits in 1/2 then take them whole...I take one 1/2 then wait 5 mins and take then next and so on, giving 5 mins between them....small pills (smaller than a skittle) I take whole

I started taking them full right after surgery.  It was had but i did it. They did split the potassuim pill (god awful!) at the hospital, but other than that I have been taking the whole.  It gets easier at time goes on to the point you just pop it into your mouth and swallow, no problem!

Surgery was July 19 2012, and I am doing great!! Only one regret....wish I did this years ago!!!!

I just had my one month follow up appt and the NUT said once you are eating solid foods you don't have to crush your pills anymore-if they are the size of a m&m or smaller can swallow whole-if bigger split them up.  I got a pill splitter at the pharmacy and it works great.

Good to know because I just bought a bottle of non-chewable multi-vitamins. Besides the fact that I don't like the taste of the chewables the regular kind are half the price and had more in it.

I used a pill splitter until I was 3 months post-op.  Since then I am able to drink enough fluids at one time to wash a whole multi or calcium down.. I also felt that I was better healed internally.

I was cutting my multivitamins in half for about 1 month.  I was taking chewable calcium for about a month as well.

B12 and Biotin and 1 other prescription med was whole right away, but not all at the same time.

I took all pills a few minutes apart.

I bought a pill cutter/crusher at the pharmacy.

Did you find the biotin helpful?
