Leaks vs protein

I'm one week post op and I'm getting a bit concerned. When I was in the hospital my heart rate kept getting high would jump around from 80-135 and they kept me in a bit longer to keep an eye on it and released me because aside from that I was feeling great and tolerating fluids etc. Since being home I'm still tolerating fluids however the protein shakes and powders are making me feel nauseous so reaching my daily protein levels is not happening I was going to try a fruit protein today but my heart rate is increasing when I move if I lay still and do NOTHING my heart rate is fine but as soon as I stand up and walk around my heart rate increases today when having a shower my heart rate increased to the point my chest felt tight.

So I'm wondering if anyone else experienced this and could it be lack of protein causing it and should I wait a day or so after getting the new protein into my body and see if it helps or should I just go back to the hospital?

I have no pain aside from the increased heart rate I feel 100% amazing even the gas is basically gone.

I didn't eat anything for 2 weeks, except for water and occasional spoonful of broth. Everything made me nauseous, especially protein shakes, that are normally a part of my daily routine. Everyone heals differently but I was also only comfortable laying down. Once I got up, I would ache all over, dizzy and nauseous

I would go back to the emerg at your centre. It is not normal to have heart rate issues. If in doubt try to call your centre.

I don't mean to frighten you but were they concerned at all about Pulmonary Embolisms when you were in the hospital ?? I had surgery on my back in February and they couldn't get my heart rate to go down below 100 unless I was in bed. Every time physio came to get me up my heart rate was like 120-150 and I'd get a tight feeling in my chest sometime it made me feel a little like I was short of breath. After 2 days of this they got concerned and sent me for a CT and I had multiple Pulmonary Embolisms in each lung. I just don't think it would hurt to get checked out. I didn't feel bad either my back pain was under control, I had no chest pain and I was eating and drinking no problem, etc....

Thank You everyone,

i spoke to to my surgeons office shortly after posting and they suggested I go to emergency but I live closer to St Joes in Hamilton and they said that was fine because they perform RNY. I just got home after almost 12hrs. Blood work tested positive for blood clots but they said sometimes that's normal because I just had major surgery so they ran a catscan on my chest and did chest X-rays and also hooked me up to a heart monitor almost like a halter monitor and also did an ECG. All these tests came back good even my blood work other then the blood clot thing. My heart rate never dropped below 120 but was as high as 144 and 146 the nurse told me the person monitoring my halter called a few times asking if I was running around. My ECG came back as normal other then it was very very fast.

The doctor even asked me if I was using heroin or cocaine she said normally a heart rate like that is seen with those drugs and of course the tox screen came back clean.

So they are sending me to a specialist for my heart plus they want me to call my surgeon Monday morning and see what his thoughts are.

I almost wondered if there was a small leak but I don't have any other symptoms if I knew my heart wouldn't go crazy I feel good enough to start on the treadmill. The doctors tonight referred to me as a medical mystery.
