OT - Moving forward

Some of you might remember that I have had issues with my job for a LONG time. It's not a bad job, but has never tapped my true skills and has never been a great "fit" for me. Still, I got great reviews, etc.

But last spring I started to deal with depression, and I ended up cutting back to 3 days a week to gain my balance.

The issue is that despite the reduced schedule, I had yet to find the place where the workload was reduced. I had a LOT of time on the road which meant that I was never able to catch up on the office side of things until deadlines were loomng and pressure was high.

It ended up that I was having anxiety issues - this week, driving into the office, I was really feeling it. I was GLAD for a huge backup in traffic at one point!

And...as the Universe would have it, my boss sat down with me to say that the part time schedule just wasn't working for the organization. We agreed that I would announce my "retirement" effective December 31.

Now, I am not 100% "retiring" as in sitting in a rocking chair. But I will be looking for my next job, spending the holidays in Florida with Mike, and getting my head on straight in general. Not a bad plan if you ask me. And I felt amazingly good - able to take a full, deep breath for the first time in a while after making the announcement.

So....what's the next chapter? Who knows!

Congrats on the Universe conspiring to make the next best thing available to you Lynn, as I'm sure it will. . .

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Lynn;
Congratulations on the retirement announcement.

Gene pretty much went through the same thing a couple years ago when announcing his retirement from child welfare.  His next chapter is still developing, he is in a much better place than he was a couple years ago.

Enjoy the unfolding of the next chapter of your life!!!!!!

Ida
