Watermelon heaven!
Yummy in my tiny little tummy!
Ice cold slices of watermelon or cut up cubes are DELICIOUS! What a treat! After getting protein and all the good stuff during the day, watermelon is such a delicious dessert! I can't wait until the local farmer's market is packed with fresh fruit and veggies, for now the local grocery store has had some thick, dark red watermelon slices!
Woo!
I'm exactly the same way, loved it before but really love/crave it now! I love how much my taste for food has changed since surgery. I used to love Wendy's dollar menu. Now the thought of any kind of fast food turns my stomach, even the smell makes me gag. I really don't care for bread but instead love using crisp, cold romaine lettuce leaves for "bread." It's really made transitioning into my 'new normal' so much easier.
That's the way to do it! Start making changes pre-op so it's not new to you post op. Start tracking your food, cut out drinking with meals, get used to measuring your portions (even though they're going to be significantly smaller post op, especially early post op), start taking a multivitamin if you don't already, etc. I really feel like working on these things in the 6 months prior to my surgery really helped me a ton, especially the further out and more 'normal' things get. I'm 17 months out now and this is all just second nature to me. I wish you the best on your journey!
Watermelon literally saved my life after my surgery. I was very sick for many years after surgery and could hardly keep anything down. I found tha****ermelon was easily tolerated and kept me satisfied and helped tremendously with my dehydration. For about five years I almost exclusively ate watermelon. I don't recommend doing that of course but it's a good go to, especially if you run into problems with hydration etc.
