Liquid protein supplement
Hey! I had my RNY 11/10, and I just starting on full liquids now. . . I HATE the overly fake sugar taste of most pot the mixes, just can't get them down. . I have Benn making the following:
8oz skim milk, 1 scoop injury unflavored protein powder, 1tbs king Arthur flour black cocoa, 2tbs PB2. . .
It is not sweet but super flavorful, 234 calories, 34g protein
Something along that line of a DIY may be better?
Good luck!
what is "King Arthur flour black cocoa"?
PB2 is a powdered peanut butter. It only has 45 calories per serving vs 190 with regular peanut butter. And the fat is way lower as well. I add it to my shakes for flavor. Once you can eat regular peanut butter you can mix this with water and it makes your own spreadable PB. Target carries it now. They also have a PB chocolate version as well.
It does sound like you're actually having an allergic reaction as indicated by the itching and Lora's suggestion of the egg white is good. I use Muscle Egg liquid egg white, but it's a little hard to find. Vitamin Shoppe also has a beef isolate protein powder called Carnivor. I have a tub of the chocolate and it's pretty tasty. My husband has milk allergies and he doesn't have any problems with the Carnivor.

You can buy RTD premier protein at Sam's Club and Costco very reasonably. However, it is whey protein -- so if the OP is allergic, it's not going to work for her.

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas! I went to GNC yesterday and the nutritionist tried to convince me that it wasn't the actual whey protein that I'm allergic to, but the milk in the powder. I bought a different kind of protein liquid per her request. Still had the itchiness and then became nauseous! So I went to Kroger today and bought "Egg White Protein Powder" in the chocolate flavor. I tolerated it very well and it actually tastes pretty good! It's not heavy or grainy either. It has 24 g of protein in each serving which is perfect!
