Question for CAMAWers...

If you're logging in on MyFitnessPal this week, have you noticed your sodium is higher on the CAMAW diet?

Okay, so I know meats like ham and turkey franks or turkey Kielbasa or jerky would have a lot of salt... and I thought cheese would have some (but holy moly - 3 slices of low-cal american cheese has 750 grams!).

Unseasoned roasted turkey breast and rotisserie chicken have tons, but Eye of Round Sliced Roast Beef has hardly any.

Usually my daily sodium levels are below the recommended amount -- but today and yesterday, they are through the roof.  Like more than 1500 than I should have.  It worries me a little, but I'm not giving up... I love this challenge so far.

Anyway, anyone else noticing elevated sodium this week?  (Thanks.)

hams and roasts and such do have higher salt counts.

I counter balance it with more liquids and miralax also not to get backed up

salt will help you retain more water - and that may be really needed on a strict very low carb diet....

I follow rather low carb diet - I have to add salt to a lot of my dishes.. to prevent muscle cramps...

Yes, any processed meat tends to have very high sodium levels.  I had to adjust yesterday and substituted chicken I roasted for deli ham ham that was originally on my menu.  Meat I prepare myself is very low sodium, and I can better control what I add to it.  Seafood can be high.  The food with the most sodium on my menu today is scallops.  4 oz. has over 700 mg, and that is before I add anything.  It is a balancing act.
