I do something similar but use round steak that I pulverize in the food processor. Chili freezes so well.

Here's a recipe so simple & short, you don't even need to write it down:  1 lb. browned hamburger, 1 can Manwich sloppy joe sauce, 1 can rinsed kidney beans, 1 T. chili powder.

Manwhich is high in sodium and sugar.

For those curious how high:  a serving size has 6 grams of sugar and 310 mg of sodium.

And for the more curious...that is a 1/4 cup serving size. Oh and 430 mg sodium if your more curious.

That's a lot of sugar for a meal masquerading as protein.

Manwich ranks right up there with SOS and Spam.

Chili has been a meal I've been able to eat easily, get full but not too full, and it's pretty easy to make.

I chop things..onions and pepper and slowly cook them.

I open cans. Whatever is around but tomato whole, crushed,or diced + cans of beans drained->kidney,black

I am married to a vegetarian so we add fake meat (TVP..textured vegetable protein..frozen in bags) If you aren't add some hamburger with the onions and peppers and drain off the excess fat/oil.

I open a packet of William's Chili Mix which is my Oklahoma childhood favorite. For me chili isn't chili without William's chili mix. My people used to send me packets but the internet is magic so I always have it. You can make your own spice mix and also all things to make it spicier. I make mild chili. My son adds hot sauce on his own.

Let it all cook for a while and eat it.

Optional toppings..little plain greek yogurt, grated cheese, and for my family fritos.

Good luck on your cooking adventures.

This one is my favorite lately... http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2015/10/black -bean-and-butternut-squash-chili.html It's very Fall, I love the little sweetness the butternut squash gives it, cuts any heat a bit. I've tried it with beef and turkey and both have been great. It's great in the fridge a few days or freeze in portions... LOL just label it or a month from now you'll look at it and go WTH is that?! ;)
