Lapband Conversion to RN-Y and weight loss

Hi everyone. Not only am I a former lap band are, but I'm also 56 years old. I'm wondering if anyone else has to struggle so hard to lose a pound. I read here that a lot of people lose a lot of weight, and get to goal weight very quickly. Many people do this within 6 to 8 months, some even 5 months

For me every pound is a battle. I don't believe I have enough restriction (possibly because my pouch couldn't be made smaller due to scar tissue from the lap band). I also think my Soma is too large or both might be happening. I think my stoma is too large because a lot of food can go down and this is troublesome.

I am three months post op and not satisfied with my weight loss. My weight goes up and down 1-2 lbs and I have to really cut back on calories (protein) in order for my weight to go down. This is reminding me of my presurgery patterns when trying to lose weight on my own and getting nowhere

If you can relate, have some knowledge about this, can confirm or dispel my concerns and fears, or give support - I'd appreciate it thanks so much and have a good day

Not sure why you need to cut proteins to cut calories. For me cutting carbs and maintaining eating proteins and fats fsvthe way to lose weight.

My goal when I try to lose some regain is to eat app 80-100 grams of proteins, no more than 20-30 grams of carbs and rest calories from fat like eggs, avocado, olives, butter, etc. 80 grams of protein can be divided into 3 meals 20 grand each and 2 snacks with 10 grams of protein.

Low carb veggies like cucumbers, celery, summer squash, NSA pickles, etc. can be added to any meal.

Thanks so much for your response. I'm not eating any carbs except for the carbs in vegetables. There's nothing to cut except protein. The fair life Protein milk with the protein powder adds up my calories. I wasn't losing any weight at 750 calories a day.

80 grams of ptoteins has app 320 calories, 30 grams of carbs has 120 calories. Total: 440 calories. That leaves 300 calories for fat: or 30+ grams of fat.

There is no reason to restrict proteins.

The very first time I dumped was on a glass of milk added to coffee. I thought I would die.

Give us examples of what you eat. Maybe we can help you with your diet.

When I am in a more to lose weight- I avoid starches. And grains or sugar.

Fruits have natural sugar. I try to avoid that while I am losing.

I haven't been having any grains (except 2 times) this past month. No fruit. I eat eggs, tuna, chicken, salmon, turkey, chees, shrimp, fish, ground beef.

I eat asparagus, spinach ( which I'm thinking maybe it's just a slider and I should stop that ), raw carrots, Brussels sprouts,

I eat cheese, cottage cheese, and Greek yogurt And I use fear life protein milk for coffee. Are use artificial sweeteners I've never dumped - unfortunately - I was hoping it would keep me on my toes

How much do you have to lose and what have you lost in those 3 months. I've seen some crazy expectations lately.

Revisions rarely result in similar weight loss to virgin surgeries, and there is a great difference between needing to lose 50lbs and, say, 200lbs.

I need to lose 120 pounds. I've lost 50 in three months so I need to lose another 70 pounds I always have high expectations of myself - maybe I should calm down

I've Ben following the conversation and I understand your frustration. I still have my Lapland, I can't change over (do to insurance). But you do need to remember too few calories and our body goes into starvation mode and defeats the purpose.

Good luck!

Hi! I am a band to Rny revision. I am a bit past 18 months and have lost 80lbs + or - 2-3 lbs at any given day. I took me a long time to wrap my head around Lap-band restriction and fullness and Rny restriction and "fullness". For me they are TOTALLY different. I mistakenly thought my pouch feelings would be the same and that messed with my head for a while. My loss has been slower than others but they are lost pounds, what ever the speed they came off.

What has been key for me is eating slowly and not too much condiment, be it gravy, barbeque sauce or ketchup. Too much extra turns it into a slider food. That heavy feeling that some refer too is my only "sign". Fluids are also big. I drink 120 oz per day. That includes my am coffee and 8oz plain water about 15 min before I eat. Something about the plain water helps me to feel satisfied after I eat. I also keep the protein high and carbs low, even veggie carbs.

Good luck, I hope you find something helpful in my words!
