strange predicament

So, here I am reading all about the requirements of surgery and how WLS patients are supposed to eat (and stay away from) for the past few weeks.  My BMI at the time was 41.  In that time I go to the doctor and finally get meds for my ever increasing blood pressure.  I also, decide, yet again, that I am going to quit colas.

(Pepsi/Coke has always been my nemisis. lol  I'm sure some of y'all know what I mean by it is addictive.  I was the type of person who would drink 2 liters a day.  Last Febuary I decided to just stop.  I quit the sweet stuff cold turkey, went through the hell that is caffeine withdrawls, and was doing great until November....ugh... At least I didn't go back to drinking 2 liters!)

Anyway, guess what happened in the past two weeks.  I lost 10 lbs.... making my BMI 39.something. lol Normally, this would have made me happy.... Tomorrow, though, I have my first consultation with Dr. Kim.

Would this affect my chancing with my insurance company if I kept on losing?  I do have some co-morbidities... so, that's good... (wierd thing to type!)

I remember doing the same thing back in college.  I quit and bam lost 20 lbs in a short period of time.  (Probably A LOT of water weight. I'm always feeling bloated!)

Hello,  I think most insurance will cover WLS with a BMI as low as 35 with comorbidities so I think you will be fine.

Good luck on your journey.

Congratulations on your decision to have WLS and you will LOVE Dr. Kim.   He is MY surgeon and he is awesome and so is his staff.   He also has monthly support groups for ALL of his patients.    I agree with Saundra 110 % about the insurance but ask just in case.  I know that you will still qualify for it though.    Good luck tomorrow.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
