hi all,

so i went for the doc's first appointment ,pre-op today,so he tells me i have stones in my gallbladder and also have gerd, so he prescribed me a medicine to be taken for gerd till the surgery which is scheduled for 14th June , and told me it will be better that we remove the gallbladder as well , and suggested that as i have pcos and want to conceive again so it would be better that the pcos drilling can also be performed!!!!!!
is it the right thing to do?
has any one got their gallbladder removed with pcos drilling and vsg all in one surgery?

lov p

I don't know anything about the PCOS drilling, but will have my gallbladder out at the same time as the vsg tomorrow.  I'd rather only go under once - so am happy to have both done at the same time!

ya i know 1 is better but three things at once !!!!!
well if the doc has suggested it then it will be good only but i am a bit concerned .
i hope it wont take its toll on the body and will it not be added stress on it?
not to mention added complications.
thanks for the reply

The ovarian drilling seems drastic. As you know often times PCOS symptoms can be 'reversed' or go away entirely with weight loss.

What kind of surgeon is this? Seems like the ovaries are better left to the specialist. What does your ob/gyn say? Do you have fertility problems or do you just think you will?

I get the GB removal, makes sense, but the ovarian drilling sounds questionable to me.

well i have had infertility problems in the past. and conceived my baby after 5 years of trying and one pcos drilling in the past .but it was 3 years before i conceived so i don't think it had much to do with my conceiving. well of course the pcos drilling will be done by the professional only but still 3 operations in one go , does it make sense to you.

I would talk to the OB/GYN.  A lot of estrogen is stored in fat and is release during the rapid weight loss.  This could trigger the ovulation that the ovarian drilling is trying to stimulate...  So I would talk to the GYN to see if they feel the weight loss will do the trick, or if the drilling is needed in addition to the weight loss.

I also had gallstones and had my gallbladder removed during my VSG. It was nice to have the 2 surgeries in one, but I feel like I may have had more nausea due to that. I have a friend who had her gallbladder removed a month before my surgery and she was nauseous and throwing up just from that. The day after my surgery I was completely miserable and dry heaving and nauseous all day. I'm sure most people have nausea after VSG but mine seemed really awful. Plus my right side hurt SUPER bad. But then the day after that I felt better and now I dont have any more pesky gallbladder attacks!  So just be prepared for a LOT of nausea. Good luck!
