Survived 4th of July Food Spread

I think that the holiday family gatherings are the toughest for me. It's when I feel my food addiction really kick in. Big table with lost of different appetizers on it.

So let's see... I was asked to bring my famous homemade ice cream but instead I opted to bring veggies with light ranch dip, and garlic hummus. I had to guarantee that there was something vsg approved. I also brought some leftover lobster tail meat from my yummy bbq the night before just in case.  However, instead I did splurge and had 1 pork rib with a little lobster. OMG, it was fabulous....meat falling off the bone.

My mom made a malt ball ice cream oreo cookie pie for dessert and my niece's birthday. I am not a huge sweets person but I did have a little sample.

Then I encourage some of my family members to go for a short walk.  That helped the digestion.

I weighed myself to day......no loss..no gain. Thank god

Bottom line....I recognize my weaknesses and do my best to plan ahead to prevent falling off the wagon.

You go, girl  The walk was a nice ending.  Nevermind all the good things you did for yourself with your planning and choices. Chances are you provided a wonderful model for some family members who probably have their own struggle with weight.

Congrats to you! I wasn't so good. Where we went they only had hot dogs and hamburgers and both were making my stomach turn. I did have a little bit of artichoke dip and  3 crackers, a slice of cheese, a little potato salad (tummy loves potatos for some reason), hummus and a piece of pita bread, and a couple of bites of chocolate tort cake. There weren't any veggie tray options. Something for me to think of for next year!

I am proud of you and soooo pleased that I cannot eat much. I love my sleeve!

I've been to several family and friend gatherings since my VSG in February.  I will take the foods I want to taste, but in the end I can't really eat very much of anything, so most of it goes in the trash.  I'm satisfied knowing I've tasted it and I'm full.

I think it's fine to stray from your program once in a while just as long as you go back to your normal routine as soon as possible!

Great job, especially with the walk.

I went to a couple's house that is pretty healthy. I shredded some smoked chicken. I opened the inside of an all-beef hotdog and had a taste (no casing).  I later had some pineapple and watermelon.  My friend who had WLS was there with his wife, and one other person who knew about my surgery was there.  They all kept asking me how I was doing. I felt great. No gas, no pain, no nausea.

As a southern girl, homeade pound cake was a little weird to turn down, but I did it without regret. That's what is amazing. I turned down so much stuff, including brownies and icecream and really good drinks. But I didn't really feel deprived or bitter. I used to feel so bitter afterwards that I would have stopped and gotten more food by myself and binged later. I was content and had a great time.
