Elizabeth J. recently posted about finding out she was the lucky recipient of a kidney stone.  This renewed my worry about my husband, since we have recently found out that he is apparently prone to having them.  In fact he has one (I think 5mm) just waiting around in his kidney.  He is also scheduled to be sleeved later this month, with me.

He is too large for lithotripsy, from what his doc says, so it is a waiting game.  I am crossing my fingers, and praying very hard that the one he has will bide it's time until he has lost some weight and can have the lithotripsy done.

I have stressed to him the importance of staying hydrated after surgery, but there's not much we can do about the high protein diet.

So, I've done what I always do when I worry about something....hit the internet, and do a little research!

Here is an article that I found, and I thought I would share it for those that might be interested:

At least he'll be crossing one of the risk factors off the list soon: obesity.

oooh that's gonna hurt!  Kidney stones...much from chronic dehydration no?

Maybe check into supplementing with Chanca Piedra "stone breaker"   tea would be great!  just post op..soothin...  Can get on ebay, amazon..whole foods or vitamin cottage/shoppe  , health food stores, check on tea or supps available

Im not as fanatical about supplementing with Chanca anymore, but still do...for liver support...(I chew it! I don't like pills sittin in my tiny stomach...it tastes like ALFALFA!! lmao!) I took it regularly for my gallstones..I refused gallbladder surgery over a yr ago. I started with 1g per day within 5 days...pain free....it had tremendous effect on my chronic right side gb pain!
Im doing gallbladder flushes too but I went from a diseased gallbladder FULL of SMALL STONES and SLUDGE, yellow stools from no bile (obstructed duct), and chronic right side pain...to "a few gallstones" walls normal havin a gb "like anyone else's gallbladder" my age, brown stools, no pain, no attacks, no obstructed ducts

Come to find out Chamberbitter a weed I have in my backyard! virtually the same thing as chanca...for kidney stones as well. Can get chamberbitter at health stores too! Make a tea
I harvest my dandelion weeds roots n all for teas and salads for liver support as well!

I dunno...worth a shot?...post VSG dietary...our ^^protein ...not only hydration is important...but reducin oxalates in diet.

Thanks for the info...As far as the chronic dehydration, I'm sure that's a real possibility, since at the time of his last attack we both had a very big Dr. Pepper "addiction"....lol  I'll have to check into the Chanca Piedra for him.

I had a kidney stone 2 months out from my VSG.  Lucky me I was on vacation when it hit full force.   My recovery from the stone removal surgery was ALOT harder than from the VSG.  I hope your hubby can lose and have it blasted befor it travels.

Thank you....I hope so, too!  It was so hard watching him deal with that last one!
