5 Month Update
- I still have my hunger. It's worse some days, better others. I manage it by having 3 meals a day, and 2-3 snacks. ALL meals/snacks start with protein.
- I feel like my life is "normal". By being mindful of what I eat, I feel very comfortable eating out, going to parties, etc. I always bring a high protein food with me (ie, soy nuts), just in case there isn't anything I want on the menu.
- My meals are usually 2 oz dense protein, followed by 1/8 to 1/4 cup veggies or fruit. I often don't have room for more than the protein.
- My snacks are either a nonfat, 16 oz latte, or 1 oz dense protein.
- I lose about 3 lbs each week. Up until now, no stalls. HOWEVER, I have noticed that I haven't lost anything in the past 4 days... maybe I'm in a stall now?
- I try to excercise at least 30 minutes every day. I run 3 times a week, then hit the gym or walk the other days. NOTE, due to traveling and a busy schedule, I haven't really worked out in 4 days. Maybe there is a correlation to my "stall" :).
- My doctor has me only watching my protein (at least 60 grams a day). In addition, I try to keep my calories between 600 and 800 a day.
- I manage my head hunger by making sure I don't graze. I don't skip meals. I ONLY have my snack between meals if I'm hungry OR if I need the protein. If my protein is good, and I'm not hungry, no snack.
- Bread, crackers, pita and avocados bug my stomach, so I don't eat them. If I want a carby snack like M&M's or popcorn, I measure out a smll amount and have them AFTER I have an ounce of protein. I try to limit carby snacks to no more than once or twice a month.
- I finally bought some new pants :) One pair was a 16W, one was an 18W, and one was on 18! Much better than 24s!!! Now that I have some pants and shirts that fit me and aren't so baggy, I am getting many compliments on my weightloss :) I can't wait to shop in the normal sections of the store soon!
- My husband usually fixes his own meals, and I fix mine. I feel VERY fortunate that we are both comfortable with this!!!
In summary, I don't feel like this is "the hardest thing I've ever done". My surgery went well, even though I had quite a bit of pain the following few days. I am happy with the amount I can eat, even though I still have hunger. I am happy with my weightloss to date, even though I don't have weeks where I lose 5+ lbs at a time. So far, using this VSG tool has been MUCH easier for me, than trying to stick to a plan like Weigh****chers for 5 months.
I am, however, a little nervious that I might stop losing weight and never get to my goal. I can't ever remember weighing less than I do now, and getting lighter will be such a surreal thing for me. I can't even comprehend it!!!

Thank you for sharing your story. Very inspiring and motivating for me. I am going through Dr Thomas Jones as well so its good to hear good news about surgery and success. I am currently in the 6 month medically supervised diet phase (which is super annoying) but I am looking forward to having great success like you. Congratulations!
