I have a lot hunger, althought it is manageable compared to before surgery. How many calories are you eating and drinking, and how many grams of protein and carbs? I need at least 70 g of protein or I get hungry, and carbs give me rebound hunger (full at the time, ravenous an hour later).
I have to eat dense protein or I am hungry. This means regular chicken, steak, pork. Ground meat doesn't last long. I was very happy to find chicken meatballs at Trader Joe's, but they didn't hardly spend 5 minutes in my tummy so what's the point? Pretty true for luncheon meat too. But I fill up pretty quickly on 2-3 ounces of regular meat. Soup and chili also make me hungry, unless I eat the liquid part first then the meat.
I also don't find it helpful to snack on too few calories. Meaning, one 50-cal cheese stick doesn't really do much for me, I hardly know I've eaten anything and there went 50 calories. So most of my "feedings" are 100-150 calories at one time.
Finally, I have found that for some reason, protein hot chocolate (although not any other protein drink) shuts my pyloric valve and I get very satisfied sipping on a cup of that in evening if I need more protein or calories. I can always count on feeling satisfied after that.
I don't have all the hunger answers, but I'm sure we'll get to a good place with it. I am unreasonably sensitive to hunger, like I'm going to die if I don't eat. Partly it is because hunger mimics anxiety to me, I get a very similar gnawing sensation when I am anxious and when I am hungry. So I'm also working on trying to accept a certain amount of hunger as normal, and not a cause for overeating or jumping off a bridge (which sometimes seem my only two alternatives).
