How Cathartic and how long between sizes?

So I am a person who does not throw out clothes that I hope to lose enough weight one day to get back into.  I am not proud of this, but for one it is really going to help!  I just went through and nixed all of the clothes I wore up until school got out Friday.  The next size down is snug, but doable in case I don't lose much or swelling is an issue over the next two weeks.  But I LOVE that I am getting rid of so many clothes!

Can anyone give me a rough idea of what to expect as far as dropping sizes?  I have enough for two size drops, but not sure it that will hold me over until Spring?

Hard to say in your case, but in mine, I maintain a size for a month or two and then it is on to the next smaller size.  I was in a 16 at the end of May, 14 at the first of August or so, and I am in a 12 now, but they are getting baggy, so probably in a couple of weeks I will be ready for 10.

Thank you, that helps!  I was estimating I would be ok through March and that seems to match up with what you are saying.  I am hoping I can hold off until the season changes :)

You just can't predict size changes.  Try on the smaller clothes frequently so you don't buzz right by them.  Before surgery I was wearing 30/32 tops and six months later I'm in 14-16 or XL.  I was in the same boat with stored clothing.  I am at the end of that road so soon I'll need to start shopping.  I keep empty trash bags in my closet to put items in when I put them on and realize they are too big.  Every few weeks I try on smaller sizes.  I would not recommend shopping too far ahead in anticipation of what size you'll be then.  If you need more clothing before spring, I'd suggest just a few mix and match type items from the clearance rack or resale shop.

I too have skipped right by some things hanging in my closet, thinking I was not small enough to fit them yet.  Or bought in the wrong season.

It takes a lot longer to drop through the bigger sizes than it does the smaller ones, but I would figure 6-8 weeks per size at the bigger sizes , 4 weeks as you get smaller.  Once you get into the 'teens'  (not W), it's about 10lbs per dress size.
