Missing Restriction

I have to admit. I miss the restriction. Now it is all up to me to eat small portions.
I know I can eat alot because I have done it.  Yes its scarey.  At 11.5 months out
basically holding on to the same weight tells me so.  Yes I can graze, guzzle water,
drink through a straw.  etc etc because I have done it.  But proudly to say, I have not
touched recreational sugar...  the cakes, pies, candies, cookies and goodies.
Jan 29th will be one year off this stuff., my abstinence. This past Jan 17th I have 19 years of soberiety too. Yes I took a chip at a AA meeting. The meetings I go to are OA these days.
I am working the steps with food and on step 3. I am grateful for my weightloss and
sometimes have fear that this is a rented suit.  As long as I maintain my loss I think
and would feel grateful and over time less fear.  Sometimes I feel like I am at goal.
I feel like I have been at goal for about 5 or 6 months now.  I have basically been the same
weight. I like how I eat most of the time along with the clean food I consume.
Just sharing.  My head messes with me because I feel like I should have lost the last 11 pounds.
with my food plan, my green shakes may be a little higher in calories and I REALLY DONT want to give them up. or maybe its my dinner. I dont know.  maybe i can do a temperary change, but dam i love my green smoothies and fruit.  Just the thought to go back to low carbs.......  without my green smoothies and my face glowing is hard...lol   i guess i can do it since i am in a weigh in that is over feb 6th and I still have to lose 11 pounds.  I may not make the goal, but i certainly can lose a few more pounds until then.   Anywho...  i miss the restriction and just wish I
had it a little longer.  others my age seem to have good restriction and I have to admit it,
I am jealous!

I miss that full restriction also , i still have it. But i know what you mean , now i have to especially watch my portion sizes but thank god i eat protein first and it feels me up. Its the sweets and slider foods im most concerned about, the cookies, cakes, and well you know. You have worked that sleeve sista , keep up the good work!

I hear you.  Its good to hear that I am alone. Because if I think I am, I could do some
serious damage.  They did say a life style change, and I have learned some new eating
behaviors.  Alot in fact.  You also keep up the good work seeeester!  good job with your loss.

You are such a inspiration! Congratulations on you Jan 17 birhday. My husband is a friend of Bill's. He will be sober 11 years in May. Everytime I feel like I'm starting to backslide in my eating I think of him and what he has acomplished. I need to go to OA meetings. I think that might help with the mental part of my weight loss journey. Anyway I think you look awesome. You have done a great job!

Thank you Thank you!  That is soooo super CQQL about your husband being 11!
OA is wonderful and has been tremendous help for the mental part. I quit recreational sugar like I did the drinking 19 years ago. Look it up online to see whats near you. You have also done a great job and look fantastic!  Huuuugs

It's strange...on MEALS, my restriction is GREAT.  On snacks (i.e. chips or gummi bears)....pffft forgetaboutit!  lol!

Now I don't sit down with the whole bag like before but I have found that after surgery that I eat MANY small meals instead of 3 LARGE meals so I guess that's better???
DrHollywood
on 1/18/12 10:50 pm - Harbor City, CA
They say the small meals is called Grazing. Well depends how many small meals we are talking about.  When I have done that, I notice the calories do add up.  Its very easy now for me to gain.
I really have to watch it.  When I watch it, I am basically holding on to maintenance.  Your right, its better than how we use to eat! For me, I want to practice not the grazing part.....  boy i miss restriction.  I eat protein chips here and there some days.  Definitely a slider food for me!

Mary, you look great and are doing wonderfully! Remember the scale is just a number, it's how you feel that's important and you have done a fantastic job and are such an inspiration to me and all those here on OH.
Congrats on Jan 17! I am proud of you!
You are such a nice and fun lady to be around! I treasure our friendship!!!

Slider foods, well I am sure they will come into my path soon enough, so far I have resisted and hope to continue that trend! My favorite go to food when my head kicks in and thinks I need food, is sf popscicles, or the sf creamsicle and if all else fails a sf mint! LOL I am such a nut! I am finding that sometimes I am hungrier that normal, sometimes i am just thirsty and don't feel like drinking. That's just weird, but it happens. Maybe because I only like things ice cold now and it's so freaking cold out I don't want to drin**** water! I am not enjoying being so cold all the time, only thing I don't like about losing weight.

Anyway, you are the best! Don't beat yourself up about a few pounds, you have done it! You are there, you are a success story!!!

Hope to see you soon, love ya!!!!!!!!!
