Hello from Iowa!
Greetings form the corn-y state of Iowa! :)
My name is Jodee, I'm 31 and I will be having weight loss surgery on 2/29/12 (which will make celebrating my surgeversary that much harder to celebrate. LOL)
I will be having the VSG procedure.
Honestly, I'm scared, but I know it's the right thing for me. I'm having more trouble convicing others around me that it's the right thing. My husband has promised to be supportive but he's not convinced - he thinks I've been sold something I don't need. But he did promise to come with me to a WLS support group meeting this weekend so hopefully he'll feel a little bit better after that.
I'm really excited to have found this place and y'all will be seeing more of me around. I look forward to getting to know everyone and I hope I can be helpful and supportive to those who need it.

Many of the husbands on here want to be supportive, but the process makes them very nervous. He will do a fine job for you if he is open to going to support meetings :) He will also rejoice for you when your weight becomes more and more managable :)

Welcome Jodee! I can honestly say that you are NOT being sold anything. You will still have to work at it though. Having WLS is not a magic bullet and will only work if you are willing to do what it takes. It is not easy, Jodee, but it is worth it. Your husband is worried and it sounds like he just wants you to be happy. But having his support will be essential. I used these boards exclusively throughout my journey as my doctor was in Mexico and I did not have the luxury of a support group. Knowledge is power, especially when you are making such a big decision and it is great that he is keeping an open mind.
