EARLY prep
Are there suggestions regarding vitamins and minerals that one could take pre-pre-pre-op??
I'm thinking I'd like to get my "levels" of good stuff as high as I can before surgery (as well as some exercising) so that I can be in as good a condition on the inside as I can be - maybe it might help with some of the issues post-op?
Does this make sense?
Not a bad idea
I would suggest asking your surgeon's office what vitmains and such they want postop patients taking, and go ahead and start with those. If nothing else, it will get you into the habit of taking them now so that you might be less likely to forget them (like I do sometimes) after surgery.
Not sure about it helping for immediate postop nutrition, but I would think that building the habits now wouldn't hurt.
And the exercise before surgery is a great move. Better circulation preop can help with recovery times postop.

My original surgeon (Dr Umbach) gave me a pre-op check list at my first visit with him. It talked specifically about multi vitamins, Vitamin D, and B12 sublingual. Then we looked at my blood work to see what else to add - Vitamin D3 and B50 complex. So I have been taking those for about 10 months now. I wanted to be in a routine BEFORE surgery. I am sure it will help. Once you have surgery there will be alot more to remember. Good luck on your journey!
why sublingual for the d and B12? Are they ones you can get over the counter?
So...multi, D, B12, D3 (what is this?), B50....vitamins can be so overwhelming...I just don't want to buy a bunch of pills....if I can get what I need in one or two you know? I'm not great at taking pills either so if I can get it into as little as possible, I'd love to!

Sublingual B12, not for the D3. And yes...everything I get is over the counter. I would check with your surgeon. But here is a link to another member's posting about the ASMBS guidelines (thank you melting mama): www.obesityhelp.com/forums/rny/4516720/ASMBS-Guidelines-the-bottom-line/
