Five more days!! And they are just dragging along! I even told the doc I've researched this so much I could probably do it myself if i could borrow his staple gun!
Been having to give myself those shots of blood thinners....not a big deal. The medication burns, but I'm cool with that....the thing is is that I been getting these big ol bruises at the injection sites....?
I'm not nailing it hard, not using the dartboard technique.... Don't know what the deal is? I don't bruise easy.
Anybody else having to jab yourself?? Are you bruising? Is it gonna freak out the surgeon??? "like buddy, you been through enough!"

Many people bruise from the shots...its pretty normal. I know I do and the bruises are black.

The big bruises are normal, not because of bad technique.  (I'm a nurse)  It's just what blood thinners do.  Good luck with your surgery!

It's no biggie wildcat....the needle don't hurt. The medication burns a little...the bruises are impressive.... But you'll be cool... Just another step towards that bench!

Does everyone have to give themselves shots before surgery?

Not everyone.  From what I understand, it's a surgeon's preference, and sometimes it can be because of a medication that the patient was taking beforehand that makes blood clots more likely.  I didn't use them, though, so I don't know much more about this.

Good luck! These next few days are going to fly by and crawl at the same time. You'll be sleeved before you know it

Hello sleeve buddy!  I am also being sleeved on 8/15.  My doctor never mentioned shots to me, so I can't help you there.  Just wanted to say hi and good luck on Wednesday.
