I've been considering weight loss surgery for some time now (gastric sleeve seems most appealling to me at this point), and have finally made an appointment with a surgeon to discuss, to take place in a few weeks.  A couple of questions I haven't been able to find the answers to are; how long do you have to stay in the hospital after gastric sleeve procedure, and how long after the procedure can I expect to be able to return to work?

The typical stay is 1 or 2 days (I was 1 and declined the 2nd).  I went back to work 14 days after surgery, and this is very common.  There are people *****turn to work after a weekend.  Others take the full 6 week off for medical leave to provide ample time to adjust to the new eating.

Hospital stay all depends on you and your dr.  My friend stayed 1 night.  I stayed 3 nights.  I had to get blood and they made me stay extra.  Many go back after 2 weeks.  I'm in education and was off any way.  I'm 8 weeks out.

I was in just 1 night, honestly I could have gone home the same day - and I do know some places are doing them outpatient. Most folks seem to stay 1-3 nights.

I was back after a couple of days, but not really do anything except minor stuff (I work at home, own the business so it wasn't a huge deal other than the loss of control on my part LOL). I think I was really doing work at 2 weeks. Most folks seem to take 2-6 weeks off. Good idea if you work outside the home, if only to get your eating plan back under control.
