Maintenance Carb Question for Vets
If you are indeed struggling with low blood sugar than Elina's advice is very dangerous advice. I strongly urge you to consult with your doctor and nutritionist on this. Elina has a positive intent in that she wants to support you in reaching your weight loss goal, but a sure fire way to reach it is if you are dead as a result of low blood sugar rendering you unconscience and things going from bad to dead at that point.

I want to add that I had many moments when I felt light headed during the losing phase. This was especially true when I was in the middle of losing many pounds in a few days after a not losing anything for a bit. It never became a real huge problem as in I never fainted but I did see stars a few times when I would get up too fast. I think it was connected to lowered blood pressure. I am wondering if your experience is similar. If it continues, you might want to call your surgeon and have it checked out.
Sure, that's what it is designed to do right? If you know that you have issues with sugar, than it makes sense to check it regularly. I think for me, it was mostly low blood pressure but I am not sure it could have been low sugar as well. The symptoms can be quite similar. The reason I think it was low blood pressure is because it mostly happened when I would get up quickly. In the end, it went away once I reached maintenance and increased my calories and carbs. It was never really bad, just an annoyance more than anything. However, if it happens often or seems severe, it should be checked with your doctor just for safety reasons.
I definitely have that. This sensation was different than that, though. I have an appt Thursday with my surgeon so I'm going to see what he thinks.
I *hate* the dizzy feeling when I stand up. Happens all day. I even prep myself before getting up in the morning. Get up super slow.
Bleh. Glad to hear it all stabilizes, though!
Thank you everyone for all your input. I am seeing I will have to experiment to get my body's particular formula but it seems so amazing that your life is so normal after you get to maintenance again. I feel so normal now, just more active and cognizant of what I'm putting in my body.
I have 20lbs until I reach my doctor's goal. Gotta keep on pushing. The reduced carb definitely works, I just want to make sure it's not the culprit.
